Floors that live up to the collections

In a luxury boutique, marble is part of the stage set. It catches the light from the windows, leads customers from the door to the fitting rooms and grounds the display tables and the till. A dull patch inside the entrance, a scratch from a moved mannequin or a ring beneath a vase of flowers is enough to break the spell. Luxury boutique marble care in Milan has to be flawless, because it is seen by clients who expect nothing less.

Les Traitements du Sud works in shops and showrooms before opening, after closing or on fit-out days, with small teams used to moving among valuable fixtures and merchandise.

Each morning the shop opens as if nothing had happened – except that the floor shines again.

The Fashion Quadrilateral

Between Via Montenapoleone and Via della Spiga

In the Quadrilatero della Moda – Via Montenapoleone, Via della Spiga, Via Sant’Andrea, Via Borgospesso – shops usually occupy the ground floors of historic palazzi. Streets are narrow, loading times are regulated and Area C means vehicles must be planned carefully. We bring compact kit, manoeuvrable machines and small crews, organised to come and go without blocking the pavement during shopping hours.

Interiors here mix white statuary marbles, veined greys, polished blacks and inlaid colours. Each reacts differently to abrasives and chemicals, so we always run a test on a hidden area first, ensuring the finish matches the interior design exactly.

Window displays get particular care. Under strong spotlights and raking light, a marble plinth shows every micro-scratch and every smear from glass cleaner. We work these by hand or with small-format machines and very fine abrasives, choosing the finish to suit the lighting: a mirror polish for jewellery and leather goods, a soft satin where reflections would distract from the pieces on show.

Shop surfaces

Where marble works hardest

I

Entrance and threshold

The first square metre takes in grit from the street, and is where dullness appears first.

II

Sales floor

Scratches from display units, mannequins and stepladders, heel marks near the fitting rooms.

III

Windows and plinths

Marble bases under intense lighting that exposes every smear and flaw.

IV

Counters and tables

Tills and display tops marked by metal objects, fragrances, creams and glass cleaners.

The shop opens, the work has vanished

A boutique cannot close its doors for a floor. We work in the early morning, after closing or on public holidays, dividing the floor into sections that can be finished in a single session. Fixtures and stock are protected, or moved with your staff’s help. Our machines work wet, dust is minimal, and the floor is dry before the sales team arrives.

Calendar

Design Week, sales and new collections

Luxury retail in Milan follows a tight calendar. Design Week in April fills the city with international visitors and turns many shops and showrooms into exhibition spaces; fashion weeks and collection changes bring new displays and windows. Those are the moments when the floor must be at its best, not under works.

We recommend a full restoration during calmer periods, with a light touch-up polish just before key events. Under a maintenance contract we build an annual schedule around your store’s calendar, so our visits never clash with your busiest days. For new openings or full refits, we coordinate with the shopfitter and architect and treat the marble at the right moment: after the dustiest trades, before the final fixtures go in.

FAQ

Boutique marble: your questions

Can you work without closing the shop to customers?

Yes. We work before opening, after closing or on public holidays, splitting the floor into sections that can be completed in one session. When the doors open, the floor is dry, clean and ready, and your team finds the shop exactly as they left it, only brighter.

How do you make sure the finish matches the design?

Before any job we run a test on a discreet spot, such as beneath a display unit or in a stockroom laid with the same stone. You, or the architect responsible for the store, approve the finish before we extend it across the whole floor.

Should we restore before Design Week?

Schedule the full restoration a few weeks ahead, in a quieter period, and keep the days just before the event for a light polish of the main walkways. That way the store goes into the week looking its best, with no last-minute works.

What determines the cost?

Floor area, type of marble, level of wear, finish required, the hours you need us to work and access conditions such as Area C and loading times. The survey and written quote are free.

Is confidentiality guaranteed?

Yes. Our teams do not photograph displays, collections or premises without permission and never name the shops they work in. The photographs on this site come solely from projects on the French Riviera.

How do I get in touch?

Message us on WhatsApp, with photos of the floor or display surfaces if possible, or fill in the quote request form. We will reply promptly to arrange a visit outside opening hours.
