IslandsMarble worktops
Removing etch marks and adding stain protection to islands and worktops.

Polishing, repairing and sealing marble in the contemporary homes built on the former trade fair site.

Anyone looking for marble restoration in CityLife usually lives in, or looks after, large spaces: open-plan living areas, kitchens built around a stone island, master bathrooms clad from floor to ceiling. In rooms of this scale marble is the main visual feature, and a flaw in a single slab is enough to break the harmony of the whole space.
Les Traitements du Sud treats the stone with the rigour that high-end interiors demand: an even shine across the entire surface, repairs that follow the veining, and protection for worktops against kitchen stains and water marks.
The visit is free, and so is the written quote that follows. For a first opinion, simply send us a few photos on WhatsApp.
For much of the twentieth century this site was home to the pavilions of the Fiera di Milano, the city’s historic exhibition grounds. Once the trade fair moved out of town, the whole area was redesigned from scratch: tall office towers, residential complexes by internationally known architects, a large pedestrian park and a shopping piazza. Almost everything you see today has been built in roughly the last fifteen years.
CityLife’s homes share a few recurring features: generous floor plans, large terraces and loggias, continuous glazing and plenty of natural stone inside. Marble appears as large-format slabs on seamless floors, as full-height cladding in bathrooms and as kitchen worktops and islands, often in prized stones with bold veining. Alongside Calacatta and Statuario we find greys and beiges, travertine and the occasional dark or coloured marble chosen for a single statement piece.
This brings particular technical challenges. Seamless floors reveal any difference in sheen from one area to the next, so a partial polish has to blend perfectly with the rest. Island tops are often single pieces with shaped edges and reduced thickness, so a chipped corner calls for a colour-matched resin rebuild finished by hand. Strong, low light through the glazing shows up every water mark. And most homes are furnished and lived in, so the work has to be clean, as quiet as possible and organised room by room.
Access needs planning too. The residential complexes generally have a concierge, underground car parks and house rules setting the hours and routes contractors must use. We arrange the loading and unloading of our machines with building management, protect lifts and corridors, and organise the work so that we pass through the communal areas as little as possible. Residents in the rest of the building should barely notice we are there.
Large-format living areas that need an even shine from wall to wall.
Lemon, wine and vinegar etch marks, dull patches around the sink, chipped edges.
Full-height cladding, shower trays and basins marked by limescale and cosmetics.
The first areas to lose their polish, worn by grit carried in from outside.
The shine lasts if everyday cleaning uses pH-neutral products and soft cloths, if furniture has felt pads and if there are mats at the doors to terraces and loggias. If you would rather not think about it, we offer scheduled marble maintenance: a light polish in the busiest areas and a check of the sealer on worktops, at intervals set according to how the home is actually used.

Technically yes, but on a seamless floor the risk is ending up with one area shinier than the rest. We always look at the room as a whole: sometimes treating the damaged area and feathering the edges is enough, sometimes it is better to even out the entire room. We will tell you clearly during the visit.
Yes. We rebuild the missing piece with a filled resin tinted to match the stone, then shape and polish it by hand until it meets the original edge. On pale, veined marbles the repair is very hard to spot at normal viewing distance.
Yes. We work room by room, protect furniture and always keep a usable route through the home. Our machines run wet, so there is no dust. Before we start we tell you which rooms will be out of use and for how long.
After restoration we apply an oil- and water-repellent sealer that slows down the absorption of oil, wine and coffee. No product makes marble immune to acids, though: lemon juice and vinegar should be wiped up straight away. We leave you clear advice on everyday care.
