FlatnessMarble floor grinding
For period floors with uneven tiles, deep scratches or old wax to strip.

Period floors, communal staircases and Brianza villas, brought back to flatness and light.

Marble restoration in Monza means working with buildings that span several centuries. The city of the Villa Reale and its vast walled park has a compact historic centre around the Duomo and the Arengario, surrounded by districts where nineteenth-century townhouses, villas with gardens and post-war apartment blocks sit within a few streets of one another. Each period left its own stone behind: terrazzo-style palladiana floors, Botticino staircases, Ceppo-clad entrance halls, and more recently bathrooms and kitchens in Carrara or Calacatta.
We travel to Monza from our base in Milan, close enough to arrange visits and projects as regularly as we do in the city. After looking at your stone, we put together the right combination of grinding, polishing or crystallisation, targeted repairs and a final protective treatment.
The written quote is free, and the work is organised around the life of your home or building.
The old centre of Monza, with its narrow streets and inner courtyards, is full of houses dating back to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, altered many times since. Here we often find palladiana floors, stone thresholds worn down by generations of feet, and stair treads in white or grey marble with a visible hollow in the middle. These surfaces deserve a light touch: the aim is to remove scratches and old wax while keeping the patina that gives them their value.
The growth of the city around 1900 brought middle-class townhouses and villas, some with Liberty details: patterned entrance floors, marble fireplaces in the reception rooms and internal staircases in Botticino or Carrara. Many have since been divided into flats, so the marble in the shared areas now belongs to the building as a whole.
From the 1950s onwards Monza, like the rest of Brianza, filled with apartment blocks whose lobbies were finished in polished slabs, Ceppo di Gré skirting and Trani or Botticino floors. Decades of unsuitable cleaning products and daily traffic usually leave a dull track from the front door to the lift.
Brianza is also furniture country. Plenty of local homes have tables, consoles and sideboards with marble tops, marked by glasses, perfume and water rings. We treat them with hand-held machines and fine abrasives, usually without dismantling the piece.

In a Monza apartment building, the lobby and stairs cannot simply close. We work in sections, always leaving a dry route for residents, and agree working hours and notices with the building manager in line with the house rules.
Villas are different: there is usually room for the van and the machines, but parquet, rugs and fine furniture next to the marble need careful protection. Before we start, you will know exactly which rooms are out of use and for how long.
Monza is a short trip from Milan, yet a project outside the city is prepared carefully so that no day is wasted.
Depending on the stone and the damage, we combine one or more of these treatments.

Yes. The visit and the written quote are free in Monza and the surrounding towns of Brianza. If you like, send us a few photos on WhatsApp first: it helps us understand the situation and arrive with the right questions.
Yes, and it matters a great deal to us. On an old floor we grind only as much as needed to remove scratches and wax build-up, keeping the pattern and natural colour of the stone. We tell you in advance which finish you will get, from honed to high gloss.
It depends on the number of flights, the condition of the treads and the repairs involved. We work in stretches so part of the staircase is always usable, and the quote states the exact duration once we have seen it.
Message us on WhatsApp, even just with a few photos of your marble, or fill in the quote request form. We will get back to you quickly to arrange a visit in Monza.
Yes. Tables, consoles, bedside cabinets and sideboards with marble tops can be honed and repolished with hand-held equipment, usually without taking the piece apart. We protect the surrounding wood first and choose a finish that suits the age of the furniture, so the top does not look brand new beside an antique frame.
It can. Many recent renovations in Monza combine large marble slabs with underfloor heating, and the seasonal swings in temperature put stress on grout and joints. During the visit we check every joint, because a perfect polish on open grout lines will not last.
Send us a few photos or fill in the form, and we will arrange a visit followed by a detailed written quote, free of charge.
